- Online sessions last 60 minutes
- Face to Face sessions last 60 minutes
- STEM Summer Day focus on developing digital skills during a 5 hour session.
- STEM Sundays are hosted with a number of experts from industry and university
- The Year 11 course is only available for students who have completed the Year 10 programme of study
- Fees may be paid by standing order over three months
- A cost of £20 is charged to cover the registration cost of a GOLD CREST Award accreditation.
A limited number of fully funded scholarships are available per school.

The Fresh Minds Essay Competition offers students the opportunity to win a 100% scholarship to participate on the Fresh Minds programme of study. Details of the competition and guidance are outlined below.
Students can apply for a bursary of up to 100% of the programme fee if they receive financial support at school.

Fresh Minds Essay Competition
If you are a highly ambitious student interested in the ‘Fresh Minds’ course and aged between 14-17, then we offer you the opportunity to win a 100% scholarship to participate in the ‘Fresh Minds’ programme of study.

- Your essay should outline ‘What is the most significant invention since 2001?’
- This should be a maximum of 500 words in length. There is no minimum length.

Bursary Programme For Widening Participation
Students seeking financial aid may apply for a bursary to study on the ‘Fresh Minds’, which could result in a maximum 100% reduction in programme fees. Bursaries are assessed individually but applicants should expect to have:
- Excellent school reports with a track record of academic success.
- A successful interview .
2.1
Widening Participation criteria
Our Widening Participation criteria means that applicants will need to provide evidence of one of the following:
Low household income demonstrated by:
- Being in receipt of, or living with a parent/Guardian in receipt of Asylum Support.
- Being in receipt of free school meals.
- Living with a Parent/Guardian in receipt of Child Tax Credit where the participant is named on the award and the household income used to calculate the tax credits is less than £25,000.
- Living with a Parent/Guardian in receipt of Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance or Income-based Employment and Support Allowance.
- Living with a Parent/Guardian in receipt of Universal Credit, if the annual household take-home pay as stated on the award is less than £25,000.
Later in the process you will be asked to provide evidence of this before any award is confirmed. You will need to provide evidence of historical academic performance and complete the essay question.
2.2
How To Apply
- Applications are opened on 1st June 2022.
- The deadline for completing the application form is 11:59 pm (UK) on Friday 6th August 2022.
- Applicants must submit their essay response and financial verification in one form of submission.
- Successful applicants will be offered a bursary of up to 100% of the participation fee for the ‘Fresh Minds’ course.
- Financial verification confirms that you are in receipt of a bursary, grant, scholarship or other financial support in order to attend a fee-paying school.
- Applicants will be contacted with the outcome of their application on or before 3rd September 2022.
- Successful applicants must respond to accept or decline their offer by 17:00 on 10th September 2022.
- Excellent school reports with a track record of academic success.
- A successful interview.

- Your essay should outline why you would like to study on the Fresh Minds Course.
- This should be a maximum of 500 words in length. There is no minimum requirement.

Financial Verification
- Applicants should submit a letter provided by their school confirming in what way the applicant fulfils the eligibility requirements of the bursary.
- This should be submitted as a .docx, .pdf, or .jpg file only
