The Fresh Minds Essay Competition offers students the opportunity to win a 100% scholarship to participate on the Fresh Minds programme of study. Details of the competition and guidance are outlined below.
Students can apply for a bursary of up to 100% of the programme fee if they receive financial support at school.
If you are a highly ambitious student interested in the ‘Fresh Minds’ course and aged between 14-17, then we offer you the opportunity to win a 100% scholarship to participate in the ‘Fresh Minds’ programme of study.

Guidance
- Your essay or video should outline ‘What is the most significant invention since 2001?’
- This should be a maximum of 500 words in length. There is no minimum length.
- If submitting a video, it should be no longer than one minute and no larger than 80MB.

No, we do not charge an entry fee
Is attendance at the award ceremony mandatory to win a prize?
Participants are not required to attend the prize ceremony. The winners receive their prize vouchers via email.
Is it possible to submit more than one essay?
Our application process does not permit applicants to submit more than one essay.
It appears I have not yet received an acknowledgement that my essay has been submitted. Have you received it?
